Hello,

we have a requirement to have substitutes at organization level but currently Oracle only allows it at Master level. We need substitutes at org level because the substitutes are different per country (and OU). Obviously we could have a master org per OU but this defeats the Oracle purpose of a Master org.

So the question is:
Having only 1 Inv Master Org and many Child Orgs how can I manage substitutes at the child org level?

Manage substitutes means managing in Inventory, OM, etc.

Note: Substitutes in BOM do not solve the issue

GoalNeed to create Item relationships in Child Organizations. But the Item Relationships are being created for Master Organization only. Is it possible to create the item relationships in child organizations?


Solution1) Item relationships will be created in Master Organization only. This is the standard functionality.
2) Right now it is not possible to create Item relationships for child organizations
3) An Enhancement Request Bug 3375072 is present with the product management team to create Item relationships at child organizations.

why don't you use separate Master Org for 3 OUs

Creating one Master Organization per OU defeats the ORACLE purpose of the Master Organization! ORACLE recommends creating one master (to act as an item library) and this makes sense because item maintenance is easier especially in a multi-org scenario. As all other customers, we also have Master level categories and this too is much easier to maintain if you have one item master org.

The real issue here is why doesn't Oracle support having item relationships at org level. I guess we have to add our name to the ER and wait.....

Has anybody built a custom solution to handle this requirement?
